There are 236 steps down to the base of the Devil’s Millhopper. We paid a visit while mom, dad and aunt Mariela came into town for an afternoon. Entie came along.
More photos at the park on flickr.

You might have heard the news (and if not, you should catch up quickly). The story behind this picture is we were down visiting our parents and ended up at the beach on Saturday. As usual, mom and dad insisted we take sunscreen and hats to prevent some action of the sun burning kind and, out of nowhere, dad starts breaking out this crazy collection of trucker caps. What can I say: he never fails to amaze us.

So on Sunday we were wrapping up lunch when I dropped the bomb on them. The best part is even though I was saying it in Spanish, Carrie caught up to what was happening (she heard me mention something about trece de Abril) and it didn’t take but seconds for Alex to bust out a WHAT?!!, mom & dad & and our aunt Mariela to do some variation of Cómo!? while Al froze still with a spoonful of sorbet in his mouth trying to figure out if I was serious or not.

Carrie and I laughed so hard we decided to try and recreate the reaction. Next thing you know, the hats had to be worn and the rest is history.
