Digressed

March 30, 2008: About me

From Colombian parents, I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where I fell in love with the Caribbean beaches. Moved to Florida to wrap up high school, bought my first synth, wrote a bunch of songs with dCalvin, delivered my first pizza and fell in love with electronica while dancing the night away at the Colliseum to the likes of Front 242, Depeche Mode, NIN and Lords of Acid.

Headed to Gainesville to geek out on computer programming, learned the beauty of American college football and what it felt like to be heart-broken thus turning me into a total basket-case for months triggering a 3.5 month excursion to Europe hosted by my buddy Marc. Once back, got lucky to land a great job in town, worked the ‘96 Olympics in Atlanta, watched the Gators win a national championship in Nawlins and followed the team for five years going to every home and away game (about 70 consecutive ones while managing school and work.. freak, I know).

Stuck around for grad school, met and dated one freaking cool chick who’s since moved but remains an awesome friend. Realized that I turn into a ridiculous idiot around girls with dyed pixie haircuts, and enjoyed the heck out of no-closing times at the Soul House while it lasted. Got bored with work, took a pay cut and had a blast lecturing at Florida for two years. Once that ended, I did the obvious thing any unemployed individual would do: head back to Europe for a month (see the pattern?) where I fell in love with Paris, ran with the bulls, and danced for four
nights (that felt like eight) in Ibiza.

Back doing programming, trying to see the rest of the world and not doing too bad a job even if single life made it feel like I was crossing a desert. Spent 7 months in Germany working with a Korean company near Frankfurt, learned about black-bean paste noodles, whiskey + beer tornados & Korean karaoke and King Kamehameha where I danced the night away with Marie-Paule, a cool Parisian who later turned me to snowboarding - and got me so hooked I had to hit the Swiss, Austrian (even if by myself) and Italian alps.

Next enjoyed all the wildness that is Brasil: the futebol, the caipirihnas, the fio-dentais and the samba - all while splitting time dealing with hurricanes and tropical storms in Florida.

And just about the time I was going to give up on finding someone, a cute and stubborn capricorn comes back into my life.
