June 16, 2003: Preparations underway
Ran to get some Euros and travelers’ checks. You’re probably wondering why I don’t just use my ATM card like most normal people do since machines are so commonly available in Europe (definitely in Paris) but the problem is my bank sucks when it comes to international business. I found out about this little issue last year while cruising around the continent with some friends and only 300 € in cash to my name. I tried my card in every country we went to — Spain, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland — to no avail. I emailed customer service and they claimed it was some incompatibility issue since we
use 4-digit pins while Europeans use 5-digit ones. This, of course, is a load of nonsense since the three other people with me also had 4-digit pins.
Whatever.
So, I’ve started my packing duties after meeting some friends for dinner and then deciding to catch a movie - something I haven’t done too much of this summer. Ironically enough, we got together for sushi and then decided to catch Finding Nemo. We’re evil.
Anyways, the movie’s great but I still like Monsters, Inc. the most out of the Pixar series. Regardless, the graphics work they continue to do just won’t cease to amaze me. If only I could get a job doing stuff like that.
Aside from that, I had tried doing setting up Digressed the blog-software way but it’s just too damn annoying. Think of me as a control-super-freak: I like being able to edit my files directly and the web interfaces I’ve played with seem to be just too damn cumbersome. Plus, it’s annoying as heck to edit my links bar by having to modify a template stored in a database (who the heck thinks that’s convenient?)
So, what this means is, I’m probably going to maintain the trip updates on Live Journal which effectively means I now have two blogs. Truly the domain of geekdom. There’s just not enough time to solve this in a proper way so, I’m sorry, but I just don’t have time to set some cool styles so the default will have to do. Besides, once I get back, I’ll be transferring the content to Travel Logs.
